Family Camp 2009

In 2009 we camped at the Mike Thurston Centre which gave us the chance to do a range of water activities. We were a bit nervous about the mid September weather, but we need not have worried as we were blessed with fantastic camping weather.

This year we had a Space theme and, as always, the most amazing costumes seemed to appear out of nowhere. The camp was much bigger this year and no less than 5 patrols fought for every last point in an all out attempt to become the best patrol. We all enjoyed building space stations and rockets and there was an excellent display of space themed cakes.

Family Camp 2010

2010 found us back at the Mike Thurston Centre for our 1910 themed Family Camp. Thank you to the Beaver Leaders for organising another fun event.

Once again an astonishing array of gadgets and costumes appeared out of nowhere as the patrols competed for the coveted "Best Patrol" prize. A highlight of the camp was the race between four home made Titanics which bravely set out across the lake for their moment of destiny with the iceberg.

Here are a few pictures. If you would like to see the full set, send us an e-mail for the key to the secure website.

Family Camp and Beaver Sleepover 2012

This year found us camping at a new venue for this event - the 2nd Hellesdon campsite near Norwich. Our theme was "Romans" as you can see from the costumes.
They say that Rome wasn't built in a day, but we seemed to manage it OK. Seemingly out of nowhere, a entire Roman Fair, three chariots and trebuchets suddenly appeared. As usual, the whole lot was just made of pallets and cardboard, but the main ingredient was imagination.
We found time for archery, shooting and climbing as well, not to mention a geocaching hike and getting Hannibal and his elephants over the Alps. All this in just two days.
Enjoy the pictures.

Family Camp 2014

Yes, Family Camp was back again in 2014. This year we were again at the Mike Thurston Centre for a "Wild West" themed camp. Naturally, we shot rifles and bows and arrows but the campers also made a wonderful array of games and side shows for the Rodeo as well as building and racing no less than three Mississippi paddle steamers on the lake. Oh and we found time to go Geocaching and to dress up in daft costumes and have camp fires and a cake competition and just so much more. All this in just two days. Take a look at these pictures of us in action:
