How to help us keep the cost of Scouting down
At the 1st Hoveton and Wroxham we have a number of fund raising activities throughout the year. These fund raising events help us to bring in the vital cash which keeps Scouting going and allows us to charge a sensible membership fee (subs).
There is no central funding in Scouting. All the money we need has to be raised from fund raising or from subs.
However, Fund Raising need not be hard work or boring. We do lots of interesting fund raising events which are fun to join in with. Here are some of the things we do which you can help us with:
Recycling
We have recycling bins at out HQ for paper, glass, cans and textiles. Just bring your unwanted rubbish along and place it in the appropriate bin. Please note the recycling bins are temporarily suspended during the building work at HQ.
Jumble Sales
We do jumble sales twice a year. (see our Calendar Page for dates). We always need volunteers to collect, sort and sell jumble. You can also help by bringing jumble at our Phil the Bag events.
The Car Show
This was our big annual fund raiser which we ran for over 10 years. We would like to start doing it again, but since the pandemic, we have not had sufficient staff to do this. There are simply loads of jobs which need doing at and before this event. If you can help in any way, please see your Section Leader or e-mail us (see our Contact Us Page)
A Steam Car arrives at the Show
Bag Packing
We do bag packing events twice a year at Roy's Supermarket in Wroxham. Everyone can join in these events. All young people are given a timeslot for their turn on the tills. Please try to be there at your time to support these events.
Easy Fundraising
Easy Fundraising is a way of getting a donation for the Scouts every time you search on-line or do a bit of internet shopping. It is easy to join in and cost you nothing. Here are the details:
